Enjoy the beautiful Carramar Golf Course
6121 metres, Par 72
Carramar Golf Course is best described as a public course of resort-style standard situated 40 minutes north of the centre of Perth. Designed by Bob Stanton, Carramar was built and opened in 1994 by the City of Wanneroo. A championship course of 72 par and 6121 metres, it is renowned as one of the toughest tests of golf in Perth.
While the course measures 6121 metres (6733 yards) off the back tees, it does not play that long. Carramar’s reputed difficulty is carved through native Australian bushland, allowing errant drivers to view some of the wildflowers and kangaroos that inhabit the course.
The most challenging hole at Carramar is the 423 metre par 4 – 5th hole, dubbed ‘Heartbreak Hill’. Many a round has been ruined by this monster hole. Par golf demands a tee shot of some 250 metres off an elevated tee to pass the corner and leave a chance to get home in two up the hill! Make five, and you’ll be happy!
Many of the greens at Carramar are guarded by grassy hollows and large bunkers, but don’t let this scare you off - you can choose which tees to play from. Off the championship blue tees it’s a monster but off the white markers just a challenge.
